Ansulite A334-LV 3x3 AR-AFFF (Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film-Forming Foam) Low Viscosity Concentrate has a dramatically reduced viscosity compared to other polar-solvent type AFFF concentrates on the market. This reduced viscosity enhances performance in all types of foam proportioning equipment including in-line eductors, balanced pressure systems, and built-in systems aboard ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) and other emergency vehicles.
This concentrate is unique among the ANSULITE AFFF agents in that it can be used on both types of Class B fires: hydrocarbon fuels with low water solubility, such as crude oils, gasolines, diesel fuels, and aviation fuels; and polar solvent fuels with appreciable water solubility, such as methyl and ethyl alcohol, acetone, and methyl ethyl ketone. Its excellent wetting characteristics make it useful in combating Class A fires as well. It is intended for use as a 3% proportioned solution on both polar solvent and hydrocarbon fuels in fresh, salt or hard water. It may also be stored and used as a premixed solution in fresh water only.
This product requires low energy to foam and the foam solution may be applied with aspirating and non-aspirating discharge devices. To provide even greater fire protection capability, it may be used with dry chemical extinguishing agents without regard to the order of application.
Technical Note: This product replaces Ansulite 3x3 Low-Viscosity AR-AFFF Concentrate, Ansul P/N 416493, which was discontinued in February of 2018. This replacement, Ansulite A334-LV 3x3 AR-AFFF Concentrate, is an environmentally-mindful formulation that contains short-chain, C-6 fluorochemicals manufactured using a telomer-based process. The telomer process produces no PFOS, and these C-6 materials do not break down to yield PFOA. The fluorochemicals used in the concentrate meet the goals of the U.S. EPA 2010/15 PFOA Stewardship Program.
Statement on the use of perfluoroalkyl-containing firefighting foams
California has banned most firefighting aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF) that contain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) effective January 1, 2022. We will no longer sell this product to users or purchasers in California. Ansul now offers a non-fluorinated foam product for Class B fires which is available as item # 50071. Ansul is continuously revamping its firefighting foam product line and as additional non-fluorinated alternatives become available we will offer them for sale.
Safety Emporium is unable to offer advice on the application, use, environmental fate, or health effects of these materials and offers them in good faith given the need within the firefighting community and given the manufacturer's implied warranty of merchantability. All potential purchasers should consult pertinent local, state, federal, and international regulations regarding PFAS-containing products and seek out emerging health and environmental data and guidance before choosing to purchase or use this product per the manufacturer's recommendations.
