All prices are quoted, billed, and must be paid in U.S. dollars. We make every effort to ensure that our posted prices are correct and up-to-date, however, due to market fluctuations, prices are subject to change without prior notice. Taxes, shipping and handling charges for most items will be displayed in your Shopping Cart once you have logged in as a registered user (or entered your shipping address information if using our guest checkout). Certain items will not display shipping expenses in the cart; see below for further information.

Safety Emporium is under no obligation to honor any incorrect price resulting from typographical, computer or human error or from a manufacturer/distributor price change not known to us at the time of order. This includes shipping charges that are unusually low because of package dimensional or quantity factors that our web system is occasionally unable to quote accurately.

Purchasing and Payment Methods

You do not need a prior account to purchase from us and our site includes a guest checkout for those who prefer to purchase without setting up an account. We sell to the general public (subject to an occasional restriction; read on) as well as government, non-profit, business and other entities of all types and sizes. We accept orders through our web site, by phone, by email (do not send credit card information by email as it is not secure),  by postal mail, and by fax.

Safety Emporium accepts payments using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards that are issued by a U.S. or Canadian bank and that have a verifiable U.S. or Canadian billing address. By special request and prior approval, payment can also be arranged via Western Union Money Transfer, ACH/wire transfer or PayPal (provided the ship-to address matches the verified address on the PayPal account). For commercial customers who are approved for post-sale payment, bank checks should be made payable to Safety Emporium and be payable in U.S. dollars. We do not accept C.O.D. orders.

We accept government, educational and corporate Purchase Orders (PO's) subject to verification. For fastest service, new customers who wish to pay by purchase order should download our commercial credit application and submit it prior to or immediately after your order. Note: we do not process credit information until an order is received. If you have the equivalent credit information in another format you can send that instead of using our form. Our purchase order terms are Net 30 days. Invoices not paid within 90 days of the Due Date listed on the invoice will be referred to a collection agency and/or Dun & Bradstreet, and the account holder will be responsible all collection costs, including all reasonable legal and collection agency fees.

We reserve the right to refuse sales to any entity that, in our sole determination, poses an unacceptable credit risk (for example, if your credit card was declined or PayPal account is not verified), is purchasing materials that may be diverted for illegal or fraudulent use, or demonstrates objectionable conduct.


Because of the complexity and expense of international sales and shipping regulations, only purchases within the United States and Canada (including APO/FPO addresses, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Marianas, Palau, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) may be made on-line. We welcome International customers; see the International Orders policy below for more information.

To expedite delivery, we ship many items directly from our supplier or the manufacturer. If you purchase more than one item, your order may be shipped from more than one location. Our standard shipping service within the lower 48 US states is FedEx Ground although we may, at our prerogative, use another service such as the US Postal Service. If you need your order a hurry, we also offer rush shipping options. If you prefer another carrier, we are happy to ship on your account number at no charge.

Our web system will occasionally quote shipping charges that are unusually low or high because of dimensional, quantity, or default shipping factors - for example, when a rush shipment or delivery outside the lower 48 US states requires multiple boxes or when an item that is hard-coded to ship US Mail is ordered with rush delivery. In these cases, we reserve the right to adjust the shipping charges after informing the customer of the actual freight/delivery charges and gaining their approval. And this works both ways - if we overestimated the shipping cost we will gladly adjust your shipping charges lower, of course.

Due to weight, size, or other restrictions, some products must be shipped by truck and/or be handled as hazardous materials. These special shipping and handling charges are automatically added as separate line items in your order, but only for shipments to the mainland US. For those outside the mainland US, these charges will not appear as part of your order and will be billed separately. We will contact you regarding such shipments.

Canada and Mexico

If you do not have a UPS or FedEx negotiated rate/account, ground shipments can incur a significant brokerage fee (also called an "Entry Preparation Charge") which will be due to the carrier at or before delivery and are not included in your shipping charges on our site. These rates were last updated in February 2024 and may not be current:

The good news is that express shipments (such as FedEx International Economy) have no additional brokerage fee, so its usually less expensive overall to ship International Economy. We have exceptionally low rates on FedEx International Priority and FedEx International Economy.

While we can ship many items via US Postal Service (with delivery by Canada Post) upon request, we generally discourage this as the service is slow, the tracking abysmal, and shipments occasionally disappear into Customs for weeks and there is no way to contact anyone about the shipment if that happens. 

Note: Because some items ship direct from manufacturers who will not ship to Canada, some items must be shipped to our location first and therefore rush delivery is not necessarily guaranteed when selecting FedEx Priority (but the service will certainly be faster than Ground). In addition, all International shipments are subject to Customs delays. Note that any taxes, duties or fees are NOT included in your shipping cost on our web site, and will need to be paid to the shipping company before or at delivery. Many of our items are made in USA and have favorable treatment under NAFTA. If you would like ballpark estimate of duties/taxes we can calculate that at the time of shipment; simply ask us in the order comment line or send us an email immediately after placing your order.

POST-DELIVERY LOSSES: Our orders generally ship without a signature required. For most non-residential deliveries, FedEx and UPS drivers will still attempt to obtain a signature at the designated delivery address but if no one is available to sign, the driver may leave the package in a safe place without obtaining a signature. Safety Emporium has no control over the delivery driver's decision-making in such matters.

Lost and missing packages that the carrier reports as delivered to the correct address regardless of whether they were left with a person (including incidents of "porch piracy") are NOT the responsibility of Safety Emporium or the carrier. By ordering from us you agree to hold Safety Emporium harmless from claims for such losses. If you require a signature on your delivery, contact us before ordering; additional charges will apply for such value-added services. Keep in mind that signatures have limited utility as the carrier's drivers do not check ID, and Safety Emporium can not honor claims disputing the validity of any signature.

We send tracking information with most orders so that our customers will know when to expect a package and make appropriate arrangements to reduce the possibility of post-delivery loss; customers should check their email after ordering to make sure they receive the tracking notices.

International Orders

International shipping regulations can be complex and international shipping costs can be quite expensive (in some cases, more than the cost of the items). Therefore, one can not make purchases on our web site if they ship outside the U.S. or Canada (see Shipping above). If you want items shipped outside of the US or Canada, we can supply you with a quotation - simply review our procedure for such sales and then contact us with the required information.

Please note the following:

    • We require payment in advance on all International orders.
    • We can not accept credit cards for orders that will ultimately ship outside the US or Canada.
    • Our preferred methods of payment for International orders are wire transfer, PayPal, or Western Union Money Transfer.
      • Any intermediary bank wire fees must be paid by the purchaser; if the amount we receive does not match the total on the invoice, your order will be put on hold until the balance is paid in full.
      • If you pay by wire transfer and then cancel your order (or fail to pay the full amount and request a refund), a $50 processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount to cover our wire costs; additional intermediary bank fees may also be deducted from the amount you receive.
    • We can not accept checks from foreign banks. Bank drafts drawn on a US bank and made payable to Safety Emporium in US dollars are acceptable as are US Postal Service money orders, but may delay your order 2-4 weeks while the check clears.
    • Diversion of any item for use contrary to US laws is prohibited (for example, resale or reshipment to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria) and all purchasers will be screened against the US Government's Lists of Parties of Concern.
    • We typically ship FedEx International Priority and FedEx International Economy. We can also ship using UPS and the US Postal Service. DHL does not have a large presence in the US but we can use this method in some cases. TNT is now FedEx in the US.
    • All duties, taxes, fees, brokerage charges, and levies are the purchaser's sole responsibility. We are unable to estimate those charges.
    • If your emails to us bounce, use our web contact form to reach us. If you use a gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc. account your email should reach us without issue.
    • Shipments to or transiting the EU, Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland require the receiver's Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number.


Safety Emporium is required to charge state sales taxes for items shipped to; the following states (except for APO/FPO addresses).

State Tax Rate
California 7.25% state "base rate" only. Any district/local sales and use taxes are the purchaser's responsibility to report and pay.
Connecticut 6.35% on all purchases, including shipping fees.
Massachusetts 6.25% on all purchases. We stopped "voluntarily" collecting MA sales tax effective Jan 1, 2022 because they wanted us to report monthly sales at a ridiculously low threshold. So now they can collect it on their own. Good luck with that, guys.
New Jersey 6.625% on all purchases, including shipping fees (took effect Jan 1, 2018).

No sales tax will be applied to your order unless the shipment is going to CA, CT, or NJ. Tax-exempt organizations or resellers shipping to CA, CT, or NJ must submit a tax-exempt certificate or other supporting documentation that we will keep on file. Tax-exempt requests received more than three business days after a sale has been completed can not be credited or applied to prior purchases.

Import duties, taxes, entry fees etc. for orders shipped outside of the United States are the responsibility of the customer. For example, a Canadian customer is responsible for paying PST/GST, entry fees (in this case at a special rate if UPS) and duties through the shipper.


The personally identifying information you provide when ordering products from this site is used only to fulfill your order and is held in the strictest confidence. We will not add you to any mailing/marketing lists of any kind without your explicit permission or share your information with third parties. Some orders may be shipped directly from one or more of our suppliers; in these cases we must provide them with some of your information, however, our suppliers have agreed to use this information solely to fulfill your order. We completely and utterly despise spam

There are exceptions to our disclosure of your information for certain "dual use" items (primarily certain pieces o laboratory equipment) that have possible illicit uses. Certain government agencies (DEA, Homeland Security etc.) may either request or demand information about these items and to whom/where they were shipped. While we do not normally submit such information without a specific request or subpoena, we reserve the right to do so if, in our sole determination, the circumstances of the purchase are suspicious. See Refused Sales below.

"Cookies" are not required to use our site, although our store software will send them to your browser if you wish. Accepting cookies make it easier for you to come back later in the day and pick up where you left off. Any cookies are used solely by our web system to enhance your shopping experience and are not shared with any third parties.

We do not utilize "web bugs", 1x1 "invisible" gif images that are uniquely coded to identify you as you move from web site to web site even if you have cookies disabled in your browser (this is how Facebook and countless other companies compile a record of your every move on the Internet even if you don't have a Facebook account). We believe these unaccountable intrusions on ones's privacy should be outlawed unless a web surfer explicitly allows them.

Refused Sales

We have agreements in place with our suppliers that forbid the sale of certain laboratory items to individuals or to businesses which are engaged in practices that potentially conflict with local, state federal, or international law. On some purchases, we may require verification of the purchaser's business activity before we can fill the order. Examples of such documentation can include incorporation information verifiable with the purchaser's Secretary of State office, a local business permit, a sales/use tax certificate etc.

We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order to any entity for any or no reason.

Returns and Refunds

We want you to be satisfied. If you want to return a product, please contact us by phone, fax or email (preferred) before attempting a return and obtain a Return Authorization or instructions. We would much rather answer product concerns before purchase, so if you have any pre-sales questions/concerns let us know!


All requests for returns and all claims of damage must be made within 30 days of receipt of the item(s). Custom items and certain other "consumable" items are not returnable. Certain items in the store *may* be subject to a restocking fee of up to 25% of the sales amount. These include, but are not limited to, all Bullard, Eagle, Glas-Col, Guardian Equipment, and Watersaver Faucet items.

All items must be returned in original condition in their original packaging if practical. Soiled or damaged items may be assessed additional fees up to the entire cost of the item if it is damaged or broken beyond repair through user abuse or misuse. Specially-modified or powder-coated items such as laboratory and safety fixtures are not returnable. Laboratory fixtures that have been specially cleaned and sealed are not returnable if they have been removed from their original packaging.

Rush shipping (Next Day, Second Day etc.) fees are not refundable except in case of error on our part.

Return shipping costs for items that received free shipping initially are customer's responsibility except in case of error on our part. We strongly recommend that you use a trackable shipping method for returns (UPS, FedEx, Priority Mail etc.).  Do not return any goods without first contacting us and confirming the return address.

Refunds are issued using the same method used to transact the original purchase. For example, if you ordered using a credit card, the refund will be posted to that same card,

PAYPAL PURCHASES Effective October 11, 2019, PayPal is implementing, in our opinion, a greedy and bogus new fee policy that will impact refunds for purchases made with us using PayPal as the payment method.  Their new policy is to keep all fees, a convention that runs contrary to every other payment instrument with which we are familiar. Therefore, if you make a purchase greater than $100.00 USD using PayPal and are eligible for a refund, the amount of your refund will, at our discretion, be proportionately reduced by the amount PayPal charged us for the original transaction.  For example, if you place a $1,000 order that is then returned, your refund would be approximately $970.00.  If you wish to avoid this deduction, use a different payment method.

All pages involving sensitive information (personally identifying information, credit card numbers etc.) are performed via state of the art Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) transactions using a signed and verified site certificate. This process is automatic, although your browser may require you to initially "accept" our SSL site certificate. These same procedures are used by virtually all quality web merchants, banks, and credit card companies. Even more importantly, our store server never writes your credit card number or expiration to its hard disk; instead this information is transmitted directly to our card processor and we never even see it. Hackers can't steal what we don't have!

Recognize that you also have an important role to play in the security of your account information. Make sure the password on your account is not one that could be easily guessed (for example, your pet or spouse's name) by a hacker or casual associate, and avoid using one that you use for other purposes. Do not leave your login ID and password posted in an insecure location such as your monitor, desk drawer or bulletin board.

Another part you play in the security of your account is to be alert for phishing scams. These are e-mails that falsely claim to be from a legitimate merchant and are intended to fool the user into revealing personally identifying information such as your credit card number. Safety Emporium will never send you an e-mail message and link requesting that you update or verify your account information. Should you receive such a message, please contact us using the contact information on our web site (not that in the email message). If you ever have any doubt about a message directing you to Safety Emporium's web site, rather than click on the link provided, simply open a new browser window and manually type in our web site address,


The trademarks, logos, and service marks (collectively the "Trademarks") displayed on this site are registered and unregistered Trademarks of their respective owners in the United States and other countries. Nothing contained on the Safety Emporium web site should be construed as granting by implication, estoppel, or otherwise, any license or right to use any Trademark without the written permission of the copyright owner or authorized agent thereof.


All products are sold with the understanding that the buyer will test them in actual use and determine for himself their adaptability to his intended uses. Safety Emporium has not necessarily examined the product(s) and has accepted in good faith the manufacturer's claims and representations of their product(s) as they appear on this web site. We therefore limit our obligation to replacement of a product which has defects in material and/or workmanship within 30 days of purchase. This warranty does not extend to any persons obtaining the product from the buyer. This warranty is in lieu of any other warranty, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular use, and of any other obligations or liability on Safety Emporium's part. Under no circumstances will Safety Emporium be liable for any loss, damage, expense or consequential damages of any kind arising in connection with the use of, or inability to use, Safety Emporium's products.
