Ohaus Frontier™ FC5515 and FC5515R Microliter Centrifuge

The Ohaus Frontier™ FC5515 and FC5515R microliter bench top centrifuges provide high-speed (200-15,200rpm) spin-down for a wide variety of life science applications. These centrifuges are compatible with seven different rotors to provide a wide variety of tube volumes and capacities. The intuitive control panel with rotary knob supports simple operation, including the ability to set and recall speed and g-force, as well as control the temperature (FC5515R only). The powerful, brushless quiet induction motor, 10 acceleration and deceleration settings, and memory for up to 99 commonly-used parameters are a few of Frontier’s features that propel high-performance. Safety features include a motorized lid locking system and a rotor imbalance sensor that stops the centrifuge if the rotors become imbalanced or sudden shock occurs, protecting the operator from by the high-speed spinning rotors.

The FC5515 model is air cooled. It measures 11.0 w × 15.5 d × 11.3 h in (280 × 393 × 287 mm) and has a weight of 35.3 lb (16 kg) without rotor.

The FC5515R uses the environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant* which provides a temperature range of -20 to 40°C in 1° C increments. It has a pre-cool feature that quickly lowers the temperature of rotor and chamber before a run. The unit measures 11.0 w × 21.9 d × 11.3 h in (280 × 555 × 287 mm) and has a weight of 77 lb (35 kg) without rotor.

*Starting in 2026, all Ohaus Frontier™ 5000 refrigerated centrifuges switched from R452A (a synthetic F-gas) to the environmentally friendly R290, a natural propane refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 0.022 (over 700X lower than R452A). Not only does this new refrigerant align with Green Lab initiatives but it is already compliant with the evolving European F-gas regulation 2024/573 and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program. In addition, the redesigned refrigeration system enables a 58-82% reduction in refrigerant volume, provides higher energy efficiency and improved cooling performance. The fully sealed refrigeration system design allows for unrestricted international shipment, including air freight.*
