ANSULITE 3% (AFC3B-FP29) AFFF Concentrate is intended for use on Class B hydrocarbon fuel fires having low water solubility such as various crude oils, gasolines, diesel fuels, aviation fuels, etc. It is not suitable for use on fuels having appreciable water solubility (polar solvents), i.e., methyl and ethyl alcohol, acetone, and methyl ethyl ketone. It can be used with both aspirating and nonaspirating discharge devices because of the low energy required to make it foam. Its excellent wetting characteristics make it useful in combating Class A fires as well. It can be used with dry chemical extinguishing agents without regard to the order of application to provide even greater fire protection capability.
This product is specially designed for cold-weather operations. The usable temperature range with conventional proportioning equipment is –20 °F to 120 °F (–29 °C to 49 °C). Diluted solutions, will, of course, freeze at 32 °F (0 °C).
This product is transported and stored as a concentrate to provide ease of use and considerable savings in weight and volume. It is intended for use as a 3% proportioned solution in fresh, salt or hard water. It may also be used and stored as a 3% premixed solution in fresh or potable water only. The correct proportioning or mixture ratio is 3 parts of concentrate to 97 parts of water. Technical Note: This product replaces Ansulite 3% (AFC-3A), Ansul P/N 432161 which was discontinued in February of 2018. This replacement, ANSULITE AFC3B-FP29 Concentrate, is an environmentally-mindful formulation that contains short-chain, C-6 fluorochemicals manufactured using a telomer-based process. The telomer process produces no PFOS, and these C-6 materials do not break down to yield PFOA. The fluorochemicals used in the concentrate meet the goals of the U.S. EPA 2010/15 PFOA Stewardship Program.
Statement on the use of perfluoroalkyl-containing firefighting foams
California has banned most firefighting aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF) that contain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) effective January 1, 2022. We will no longer sell this product to users or purchasers in California. Ansul now offers a non-fluorinated foam product for Class B fires which is available as item # 50071. Ansul is continuously revamping its firefighting foam product line and as additional non-fluorinated alternatives become available we will offer them for sale.
