Product Description
Ansulite™ A137 1%x3% AR-AFFF (Alcohol-Resistant Aqueous Film Forming Foam) Concentrate is formulated from special fluorochemical and hydrocarbon surfactants, a high molecular weight polymer, and solvents. It contains no PFOS or PFOA. It is intended for use as a 1% proportioned solution on hydrocarbon fuels and as a 3% proportioned solution on polar solvent fuels in fresh, salt, or hard water. Water hardness should not exceed 500 ppm expressed as calcium and magnesium.
This agent can be use on conventional Class B hydrocarbon fuels such as gasoline, diesel fuel, etc. or a Class B polar solvent (water miscible fuel) such as methyl alcohol, acetone, etc. Its excellent wetting characteristics make it useful in combating Class A fires as well. Because of the low energy required to make foam, it can be used with both aspirating and non aspirating discharge devices. To provide even greater fire protection capability, it may be used with Purple-K dry chemical extinguishing agents without regard to the order of application to provide even greater fire protection capability.
The Ansul part # for this product is 446709; full performance and technical specifications are available in the Ansul data sheet for this product. The Safety Data Sheet is also available.
Technical Note: This product replaces Ansulite 1x3 F-601A AR-AFFF, Ansul P/N 437189, which was discontinued in February of 2018. This replacement, A137 1%x3% AR-AFFF Concentrate, is an environmentally-mindful formulation that contains short-chain, C-6 fluorochemicals manufactured using a telomer-based process. The telomer process produces no PFOS, and these C-6 materials do not break down to yield PFOA. The fluorochemicals used in the concentrate meet the goals of the U.S. EPA 2010/15 PFOA Stewardship Program.
Statement on the use of perfluoroalkyl-containing firefighting foams
California has banned most firefighting aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF) that contain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) effective January 1, 2022. Ansul is continuously revamping its firefighting foam product line and as additional non-fluorinated alternatives become available we will offer them for sale.
