The WaterSaver Faucet Co.'s L4870FT-325 fine control needle valve assembly is a panel-mounted system designed for precise flow regulation of laboratory gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, helium and hydrogen. The valve is specially cleaned, lubricated and packaged for use with high purity gases at no extra charge. Needle valves are for use with gases only. This valve has a 3/8" NPT female inlet and is designed for installation where there is no access behind the wall during installation. The flange is threaded onto a nipple stubbed out from the wall and then the threaded escutcheon is then backed up to the wall to secure the valve and conceal the pipe. If the installer has access behind the panel or drywall, then item # L4870F-225WSA which has a locknut and mounting shank is available.
The valve body is forged brass with a polished chrome plated finish. The valve unit features a floating tapered stainless steel needle and replaceable stainless steel seat. The valve goes from closed to open in 8 revolutions of the handle, providing precise flow regulation. The forged brass four-arm handle features a color-coded index disc (specify gas being used when ordering). The inlet and outlet are both 3/8" NPT female and the outlet has a removable ten-serration hose end that varies in diameter from ~1/2" down to 5/16". Each unit is fully assembled and factory tested to 325 psi (maximum working pressure is 250 psi) prior to shipment.
The valve includes a plastic index disc indicating the type of service the valve is used for. Standard options include air, carbon dioxide, gas, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and vacuum (replacement buttons are available as item # Lbutton). Additional indexing options are also available.
Installation guidelines are available on-line. The specification drawing is available as a PDF files.
For deck-mounted versions see the L2870-131 series, and for double wall/panel/overhead fixtures see the L2870-141 series valves. An unmounted valve, the L2870, is also available. An on/off ball valve version of this item is available as item # L4200-FT.
The L4880 series of valves is identical to the L4870 except they are plain needle valves instead of the fine control afforded by the L4870.
