This clever Dean-Stark distillation receiver is specifically for removing water from solvents that are more dense through azeotropic distillation. As the material co-distills, it separates into two immiscible layers with the denser solvent layer settling at the bottom of the receiver. As the receiver side fills, the denser solvent overflows back into the distillation flask while water accumulates above it. The upper water layer can be drained out intermittently through the 4 mm PTFE stopcock on the right side.
The approximate volume of the collection reservoir is 50 mL. The approximate dimensions are 355 mm h x 240 mm w.
