The Badger model B5V-2 MR carbon dioxide extinguisher has been independently tested and received a MR Conditional Rating.The rating recognizes this extinguisher has been tested in a 7-Tesla MR imaging system and was found to pose no magnetic safety hazards. Badger model B5V-2 MR extinguisher markings conform to new FDA recommendations contained in ASTM-2503-05 "Standard for Marking Medical Devices and Other Items for Safety in Magnetic Resonance Environments." The Badger MRI model B5V-2 MR offers safe equipment fire protection within magnetic resonance imaging system environments. This unit is ideal for Class B and C fires in MRI and NMR rooms and on other energized electrical equipment.

This item does not include a bracket. The Badger specification sheet is available for download. This unit is refillable by any qualified fire extinguisher service company.

Technical note: The 2018 edition of NFPA 99 at 16.9.1.1 states "Nonferrous-type fire extinguishers shall be provided in MRI rooms and associated spaces." At 16.9.1.3 it states that "Clean agent or water-mist type fire extinguishers shall be provided in operating rooms" and in A.16.19.1.3. "Dry chemical fire extinguishers should not be provided in operating rooms. The clean agent extinguishers selected should have a Class A rating of some form." Finally, at 16.9.1.4 NFPA states "Clean agent-type fire extinguishers shall be provided in telecommunication entrance facilities and telecommunication equipment rooms.
