Ansul Model FE13 CleanGuard® FE-36 Clean Agent Fire Extinguisher

Note: Ansul discontinued the original CleanGuard® product line in 2023 with the exception of this FE13 model (Ansul p/n 429022) because it possesses a 2-A:10-B:C NFPA rating which is mission-critical to certain applications. For other applications, the CleanGuard+ FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent Fire Extinguishers (item # 09626) are the general replacements. The FK-5-1-12 agent of the CleanGuard+ is lower cost and has superior environmental and health characteristics compared to the older FE-36 agent used in the original CleanGuard.

Ansul CleanGuard® extinguishers are designed for the protection of commercial and industrial facilities traditionally protected by Halon 1211. Typically, these areas contain sensitive or irreplaceable equipment which could be damaged or destroyed by water, foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide. Typical applications include computer centers, data/document storage areas, communications facilities, control rooms, electronics manufacturing, museums, art galleries, laboratories, and many others. These extinguishers are rated for temperatures from -40 to 120 °F (-40 to +49 °C) and include a six-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

DuPont FE-36 replaces Halon 1211 as the agent-of-choice for applications where the agent must be clean, electrically nonconductive, environment-friendly, extremely low in toxicity and exceptionally effective. Because it discharges as a liquid, FE-36 also provides an effective discharge range up to 16 ft. (4.9 m). FE-36 is electrically nonconductive, residue-free, and will not cause thermal shock damage. FE-36 has been accepted by the EPA for commercial, industrial, and military use under the EPA's SNAP program. It boasts zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).

We get a lot of questions from folks who can't decide between the various clean agent options (which include water, carbon dioxide and Halotron I). There are advantages and disadvantages to each, of course. When we needed to pick extinguishers to protect our own computers and networking equipment, we chose CleanGuard. These have also been the extinguisher of choice for our, ahem, how do we put this, US government customers with sensitive electronics needs.

The FE13 includes a wall hanger hook. Brackets, which provide more robust mounting in areas such as vehicle compartments, are also available and are sold separately (see hyperlinks in the table above).
